Q: What brought you to CrossFit in the first place?
A: The short answer is my husband. I wanted to share something that was and still is a big part of his life.
Q: What was your first impression? How has that changed?
A: My first impression of crossfit (when I first started in morgantown) was that I was terrified. I had never lifted before and most activities I struggled with using just the pvc pipe. Since then I have grown in strength and confidence. I can’t imagine doing anything else now.
Q: What was your first “bright spot”?
A: Almost hitting three digits on a back squat. Considering I have been going to therapy for my squat, getting 95lbs was a huge milestone for me.
Q: What’s your favorite CrossFit CTRL memory?
A: To be honest watching others accomplish moves they have been striving to get or the elation of hitting a PR is awesome for me.
Q: What do you love most about CrossFit CTRL? What keeps you coming back each month?
A: Getting stronger both physically and mentally. If I don’t get my gym fix I get very grumpy and irritable. And the hope that I will reach my list of goals someday.
Q: Who inspires you?
A: My husband first because he is so strong and makes everything look easy. But I am also inspired by those in class how they push themselves to be a better version of themselves.
Q: What is your current occupation? What are some hobbies, clubs, groups or activities you participate in?
A: I am an emergency room nurse which I don’t actually admit too much. I have been in that position going on 10 years. My hobbies include reading, crocheting, crafting in general, and anything true crime related. I also am also an adrenaline junky doing mud runs, obstacle runs, parachuting, zip lining, really anything that is scary initially.
Q: What would you say to someone you love to encourage them to try CrossFit CTRL?
A: It may seem scary and intimidating at first but it truly is a judgement free zone where completely the work out at your level is celebrated. It becomes a family of support and encouragement.
