MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: Debra
Q: What brought you to CrossFit in the first place?
A: I did crossfit before but had to stop due to my crazy life schedule. I love the challenge of the crossfit WODS. I don’t seem to get what I need at traditional gyms. Crossfit has both cardio and weightlifting, I love that.
Q: What was your first impression? How has that changed?
A: When I joined CrossFit CTRL, I immediately felt welcome and like I fit in. Devan also has a love for helping people become the healthiest version of themselves and it shows. I have always loved crossfit, I just love it more now.
Q: What was your first “bright spot”?
A: My bright spot back squatting over 225.
Q: What’s your favorite CrossFit CTRL memory?”
A: When a member Melinda was back squatting with me. I didn’t tell her the weight we were using and she PR’ed by 60lbs. Seeing how excited she was, well that’s what crossfit is about!
Q: What do you love most about CrossFit CTRL? What keeps you coming back each month?
A: The members, we all started as strangers and have become great friends and supporters. We laugh a lot but also get the job done. It’s an awesome atmosphere! Amazing people with the similar goals!
Q: Who inspires you?
A: My gym family and coaches. It’s not about finishing first and lifting more…it’s about seeing others reach and beat their goals! The members that keep coming back and killing it inspire me!
Q: What is your current occupation? What are some hobbies, clubs, groups or activities you participate in?
A: I am a registered nurse. Im also a mom so my free time is going to volleyball and softball games. I also help coach summer softball.
Q: What would you say to someone you love to encourage them to try CrossFit CTRL?
A: Crossfit is a family and you will love it. You will be surprised at what your body can do if you leave your mind out of it. This crossfit truly cares about your health and well being. Do it, you will love it!!
