Q: What brought you to CrossFit in the first place?
A: After an active summer, I wanted to maintain that activity level. And I thought my husband and I could have fun doing CrossFit together.
Q: What was your first impression? How has that changed?
A: I was afraid it would be intimidating! But I am impressed with how supportive everyone is. It doesn’t matter your age, weight, or fitness level – everyone cheers you on and celebrates your personal wins.
Q: What was your first “bright spot”?
A: My first bright spot was realizing the benefit of CrossFit on my mobility. It seems small – but it was a big deal to be able to tie my shoes without sitting first.
Q: What’s your favorite CrossFit CTRL memory?”
A: Deadlift PR? Figuring out how to do squats? Finally doing a Burpee? Making Halloween shirts with Heather? So many options!
Q: What do you love most about CrossFit CTRL? What keeps you coming back each month?
A: I love how I feel after powering through a tough workout. When I feel like slacking I use the same plan I used years ago when my son didn’t want to go to football practice. I always told him he was free to quit AFTER practice – not before. But, just like that teenager, I never want to quit after a great workout and feeling pumped!
Q: Who inspires you?
A: My husband Brian. He has made such great strides in his health and mobility since joining. He bounced back after a recent surgery and couldn’t wait to get back to the gym. That’s dedication!
Q: What is your current occupation? What are some hobbies, clubs, groups or activities you participate in?
A: I work as an analyst/writer. I enjoy travel, diy projects, gardening, my big dog, and keeping up with grandkids!
Q: What would you say to someone you love to encourage them to try CrossFit CTRL?
A: Come on and give it a try. No more boring treadmills, no more giving up after a month. This can change your life!
