MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: Evie Cox
Q: What brought you to CrossFit in the first place?
A: My Sister in law Katie invited me to a friends and family class…My husband Brad has loved CrossFit for over 13 years but I would never agree to follow him into a class. I guess it took my sister in law:). I was coming off of the pandemic blues and knew I needed to make a change. I realized that I had lost myself in being a mom of 4 and a wife…I felt like I needed something for myself and to set a good example for my kids of how to take care of themselves.
Q: What was your first impression? How has that changed?
A: That CrossFit is for extremely intense and in shape people. From the first moment of stepping into my first class I saw normal every day people just trying their best to be healthy. Everyone can do CrossFit!
Q: What was your first “bright spot”?
A: Looking in the mirror and noticing small changes in my body. I’ve gained so much strength and feel amazing. Mentally and emotionally I feel like I can take on the world which is an added bonus.
Q: What’s your favorite CrossFit CTRL memory?”
A: Honestly competing in my first competition with Katie and taking second! It was extremely difficult but also so much fun! I couldn’t believe that I was able to do so many work outs in one day in a few hours. I pushed myself out of my comfort zone and it felt amazing! I can’t wait to do another competition sometime soon!
Q: What do you love most about CrossFit CTRL? What keeps you coming back each month?
A: I love the family like atmosphere! Everyone is so kind and they are always cheering me on and encouraging me to do hard things! Seeing the small changes in myself keeps me coming back. I can’t wait to see what I can accomplish in the next 6 months…
Q: Who inspires you?
A: I would have to say my husband Brad…but really everyone who comes to the gym. Its awesome to see everyone work hard and hit their personal goals!
Q: What is your current occupation? What are some hobbies, clubs, groups or activities you participate in?
A: I am currently a stay at home mom to 4 kids ages 6 and under. We are foster parents so we constantly have new children coming and going. We just recently adopted 3 of the 4 we have! I love to read books, watch hallmark Christmas movies. honestly outside of the 4 kids I don’t have much free time!
Q: What would you say to someone you love to encourage them to try CrossFit CTRL?
A: Just show up…in the first 90 days my main goal was to not quit! Im coming up on 6 months and its been a learning and growing experience in so many ways. You won’t regret making time for yourself. The people at the gym are amazing and will become such a strength and will encourage you in so many different aspects of your life. If you don’t make time for yourself no one else will. Also don’t wait to start making positive changes in your life…start today and as soon as you can.
