Q: What brought you to CrossFit in the first place?

A: I wanted to start getting healthier since I recently was blessed with my first grandchild and didn’t really know how to start. One day I was scrolling through Facebook and seen an ad and requested info and bam Devan called…and who can say no to Devan. He definitely made me think about my health and the importance of it, so here I still am over 4 months later!

Q: What was your first impression? How has that changed?

A: My first impression of crossfit was scary, I have seen videos and huge men and women. But now it’s not scary it’s a challenge, a challenge I want to get better and better at.

Q: What was your first “bright spot”?

A: Box jumps! Excited that I could actually do it!

Q: What’s your favorite CrossFit CTRL memory?”

A: Lots of great memories but I guess the one I remember the most was playing the pizza game. It was fun but also a great warmup.

Q: What do you love most about CrossFit CTRL? What keeps you coming back each month?

A: The challenge of it keeps me coming back but if it wasn’t for having such a great atmosphere I wouldn’t keep coming back. Everyone here is friendly and only wants you to do better!

Q: Who inspires you?

A: My inspiration has mainly been myself. I inspire myself to be healthier to live longer. I lost both my parents at young ages of cancer. So I want to be as healthy as I can. But since I have started coming to crossfit here, Devan and the 6am class has inspired me to try harder!

Q: What is your current occupation? What are some hobbies, clubs, groups or activities you participate in?

A: Current occupation is a Business Analyst at MonPower. I am a member and the treasurer of CBWV (Concerned Bikers of WV) a nonprofit organization. My hobbies include crafting, crocheting, and anything outside really.

Q: What would you say to someone you love to encourage them to try CrossFit CTRL?
A: Just try it. It’s hard and challenging but it’s also fun, encouraging and builds confidence. You never know what you can really accomplish until someone is there to push you!
