WHATS CAUSING YOUR JOINT PAIN?

What’s causing your joint pain?

Usually when an athlete is having some type of joint pain it is caused by dysfunctional tissues upstream or downstream of the problem.

We will use the knee as an example.

Your knees don’t bother your throughout the day. But when you squat you feel some pain.

First we want to look at body mechanics. Are you moving correctly? For this example we’re going to say yes.

So lets run a couple tests.

We find you have tight quads. So we foam roll to get the sliding surfaces to glide better.

Retest and the knee pain is gone.

What’s the difference?

Think of it as feeding slack into the tissues. With the quad able to function normally it is no longer pulling with excess tension on the knee.

Talk to your trainer or coach. See if there’s something they can do to help rid you of nagging joint pain.
