Q: What brought you to CrossFit in the first place?
A: I had to make a lifestyle change. I sit all day with my job and it was catching up with me and I knew there is no better workout on earth than the hour you spend in a CrossFit class. I also wanted to be a better role model for my family by making my health and fitness a priority.
Q: What was your first impression? How has that changed?
A: Scared and I must be crazy. I still think I’m a little crazy, because now I look forward to class every day. Your attitude shifts quickly when you actually see what you’re capable of.
Q: What was your first “bright spot”?
A: I don’t really remember my first bright spot because they’ve stacked up since I started. Being able to do over 100 sit ups and over 100 air squats when at one time it hurt to go up a set of stairs.
Q: What’s your favorite CrossFit CTRL memory?”
A: I think my favorite is one day I didn’t think I was going to be able to get to class and I was so mad about it. It pretty much ruined my morning, but then plans changed and I was able to get to my 430 class and I was super pumped. At that moment, I realized how important it is to me.
Q: What do you love most about CrossFit CTRL? What keeps you coming back each month?
A: The people and the progress that I’ve made. The people are amazing and quickly become a second family. They’re folks you look forward to seeing everyday, who root for you to get better and healthier. I love it!
Q: Who inspires you?
A: Everyone at CrossFit CTRL. We all go, day in and day out and put in the work together.
Q: What is your current occupation? What are some hobbies, clubs, groups or activities you participate in?
A: I’m a Scrum Master – IT guy. I love watching my girls when they’re playing sports, or doing the CrossFit kids class. I like to garden and BBQ on my Big Green Egg.
Q: What would you say to someone you love to encourage them to try CrossFit CTRL?
A: Give it a chance! Spend an hour a day on yourself, working hard while you laugh with everyone else in your class. You will thank me later, I promise!
