Q: What brought you to CrossFit in the first place?

A: A friend of mine was coming and I was curious. I asked her about it and she said that she loved it. So, I decided to make an appointment to see what it was all about.

Q: What was your first impression? How has that changed?

A: I was super nervous coming into the gym because I had never stepped into a gym with the intention of joining. I kind of thought I may be in over my head, but I went ahead and signed up thinking that if I didn’t like it that I didn’t have to keep coming.

Now I look forward to coming to class and it is a place where I can just be myself and feel comfortable working to improve me. I am not in over my head at all because every single workout is scaled to fit anyone.

Q: What was your first “bright spot”?

A: My first bright spot was when I was able to do box jumps. I wasn’t able to do them when I first came and I continued only doing step-ups for a while. Finally, after some time had passed, I tried again and I was not only able to do one, but I did several in a row during a workout!

Q: What’s your favorite CrossFit CTRL memory?”

A: My favorite CrossFit CTRL memory is the Twelve Days of Christmas workout. I had just started with CrossFit CTRL about 3 weeks before this workout. This was one of those hurdles that I thought was insurmountable. During the workout I thought that I was never going to finish, but I DID! I felt such a sense of accomplishment when I left the building that day! Since that moment I have had many challenges and I always leave the building feeling accomplished.

Q: What do you love most about CrossFit CTRL? What keeps you coming back each month?

A: I love so many things about CrossFit CTRL.

I love the community. The members continually encourage each other to give their best effort. You don’t realize how much someone encouraging you when you are in the middle of something that is difficult can do for you until you hear those encouraging words. My successes become everyone else’s successes.

I love that every workout is for everyone. The workouts are scaled and anyone can do them. Each person works just as hard as any other person in the room, but on their own level.

I love the challenge of what seems like insurmountable hurdles. Those challenges turn into exciting achievements when you overcome those hurdles.

I love that it pushes me every single time that I come and I always leave feeling a sense of accomplishment!

Q: Who inspires you?

A: A lot of people inspire me. My family, my friends, my coaches, and all of those who workout at CrossFit Ctrl. inspire me to be a better version of myself.
