Motivation is a myth
You see an ad that motivates you to change
You start Monday. New diet and exercise routine.
Two weeks in and you’ve lost 5lbs! More motivation!
You decide to skip a day and go out to dinner to celebrate.
Next weeks weigh in and you’ve gained half a pound back.
All of a sudden that motivation is gone. You think “this isn’t working” and skip another workout and eventually quit this new routine.
This is the story for so many. Including myself.
I struggled for years to stick to a routine until one day my strength coach said something that made sense.
“Motivation will abandon you, Discipline won’t”
The most important days along your journey are the days you don’t feel up to it.
We all have bad days. Don’t let them get in the way of your success.
Make a plan. Set a schedule. Find a mentor or coach to help you.
Once you set this plan don’t rely on motivation, stay disciplined.
