YOUR PAST EXPERIENCES DO NOT DEFINE YOU, BUT THEY ARE WHAT YOU HAVE TO WORK WITH.
WITH A BACKGROUND IN STRONGMAN, I CAN CYCLE HEAVY BARBELLS CONSISTENTLY, BUT HAVING A 7 MINUTE IS NOT IN MY WHEELHOUSE. I’VE BEEN DOING CROSSFIT SINCE 2017 AND IT WASN’T UNTIL RECENTLY THAT I GOT A MUSCLE-UP, WHICH MADE ME REALIZE THAT I COULD DO THINGS I THOUGHT WERE IMPOSSIBLE.
DURING MY FIRST YEAR, I SPENT A LOT OF TIME COMPARING MYSELF TO OTHERS AND FEELING LIKE I WASN’T MAKING ENOUGH PROGRESS. I WANTED THE MUSCLE UPS, THE DOUBLE UNDERS, AND TO SNATCH MY BODYWEIGHT (A GOAL I AM STILL WORKING TOWARDS). I REALIZED I AM ONLY ABLE TO COMPARE MYSELF TO WHAT I DID YESTERDAY, AND COMPARING MYSELF TO ANYONE ELSE WAS A MISTAKE.
STOP COMPARING YOURSELF TO OTHER PEOPLE. OK, YOU CAN LOOK TO OTHERS FOR INSPIRATION, BUT NEVER LET IT BRING YOU DOWN.
